Vegan Salad Dressing

Any recipes for a good easy to make vegan salad dressing or any suggestions for a store bought one? Thanks. . After looking around, I learned — Make all recipes to your taste. Basically most of these recipes are mine and I rarely write them down I just sort of know how much of everything to put in by eye. Experhyment and see how you like them. BBQ dressing: olive oil apple cider vinegar agave nectar chipotle hot sauce tiny bit of mustard (if you are into that sort of thing) Spicy Asian Chili Mayo: Veganaise (or homemade equivalent) crispy chili oil (like the stuff you find in chinese restaurants) try and use just crispy bits agave nectar soy sauce rice wine vinegar (only use a lot if making a salad dressing for sandwiches use less) Lemon Tahini: tahini lemon juice parsley minced garlic lemon zest (the outer skin of a lemon just the yellow part) Thousand Island: veganaise ketchup pickle relish minced onion Garlic bread salad wha wha what?: infuse extra virgin olive oil with: garlic chopped basil red pepper flakes Good info about infusing oils: “When I make garlic or herb infused oils, I warm the oil over the lowest heat, add the herbs/garlic, let it steep on the heat for about 30 minutes and then pull it off the heat and allow it to cool a bit. Then I strain the herbs/garlic out by first pouring it through a regular strainer and then filtering it through a coffee filter (brush the filter with plain oil first, it helps it work a wee bit faster) placed in a funnel into the bottle. The filtering takes a long time but it’s important because plant material left in the oil can encourage botulism. I don’t know how those pretty commercial bottles of oil and herbs get way with it without problems but I have had home made ones go over the edge before I started filtering. Make sure your herbs/garlic and all your equipment and jars are scrupulously clean before starting to lessen any potential problems. It’s probably a good idea to make it in small amounts that you’ll use quickly if you’re going to leave the oil at room temperature. “- morwen on chowhound then add: white wine vinegar nutritional yeast also add the herbs and garlic back in if they aren’t to bad or add any fresh stuff in if they are bad.     Suggested store bought brands that have vegan choices are: Annies, Newman’s Own, Simply Organic, Walden Farms.

    Citrus Dressing
    3/4 cup orange juice
    6 Tablespoons mustard
    1 cup olive oil
    salt pepper to taste
    In blender, puree the orange juice, mustard, and olive oil. Season to taste.
    Makes 2 cups

    Raspberry Vinaigrette
    1 1/2 cup fresh raspberries
    1 Tablespoon sugar (I use agave nectar)
    1/4 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
    1/4 teaspoon pepper
    2 Tablespoons distilled white vinegar
    3 Tablespoons water
    1 1/2 Tablespoons water
    1 1/2 teaspoons vegetable oil
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    Combine all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Strain to remove seeds. Chill for 4 hours.
    Makes 1 cup

    Kmart actually has one that is really good. Made by Spectrum Vegan Caesar. Its mustardy and has a touch of spice. Great for even dripping carrots.
